Beatrice Sidla

Sidla Beatrice Mary Sidla, daughter of Mary Unger & Frances Kriz, was born on September 6, 1912 in New Prague, Minnesota and died after a long illness on July 22, 2005 at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester, MN. As a young girl, Beatrice moved to St. Paul, MN where she worked in food service. On November 28, 1933, she married Adolph Sidla and moved to Hopkins where she lived for 72 years. Beatrice worked in food service for the Hopkins School System for 23 years. She was involved in women's groups at her church, senior citizens club and many volunteer programs, including Meals on Wheels and visiting the home bound. She especially loved to make visits to her friends in nursing homes to give them some of her baked items. She loved to cook and entertain, play bridge, and to travel with friends and family. Two years ago, she moved to Rochester, MN to be closer to her immediate family. Beatrice is survived by her children, Marilyn Sidla La Rue & Richard La Rue of Rockville, Maryland, Roland Sidla of Austin, Texas, Kathy Sidla of St. Paul, Jeannine Sidla Hadley & Don Hadley of Rochester, Minnesota; and Beatrice's grandchildren, Charles & Mary La Rue, David & Lisa La Rue, Julie La Rue & Adam Walderman, Thomas & Heidi Sidla, Carey & Nancy Sidla, John Hadley & Anita Linn, Andrea & Josh Kaplowitz, and Carrie Verderame. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Justin Iverson, Kriz and Jerome La Rue, Alison, Katherine and Thomas Drury, Mariah and Aleksei La Rue, Thomas Hadley, Halen Sidla, Ava Talia and Ben Walderman, and Elijah Kaplowitz; and her great-great- grandchild, Destinee Marie La Rue; special friends, Amy Stock, Cori Stuhr, and Marci Wiederholt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Sidla, and her great grandchild, Anton La Rue. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 1310 Mainstreet in Hopkins, 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 27th, with visitation one hour before Mass at church and visitation also 4-7 PM Tuesday, July 26th with vigil prayer service at 6:30 PM, both at Washburn-McReavy Strobeck Johnson Chapel, 1400 Mainstreet, Hopkins. Interment is at St. Margaret's Cemetery, Hopkins. Memorials may be made to North Central Cancer Treatment Group, c/o Mayo Clinic, 200 First Street SW, Rochester, Minnesota 55092.
