Barbara L. Rebers

Rebers, Barbara (nee Sager) Of Edina, age 83, passed away November 28, 2012. Barb was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and moved to Minneapolis as a child. Preceded in death by parents, Jerome and Maebelle, brother, Jerry, and husband of 59 years, Sidney, in 2010. Survived by children, Bradley, Laurie (special friend, Steve Fountain), Randy (Denise), and Kristen Rice; beloved grandchildren, Stefanie and Marissa Rebers, Matthew and Josie Rice; and many dear friends and special cousins. Barb was small in size but fearless in life. She enjoyed traveling deep into the Canadian wilderness with Sid to catch Northern Pike almost as large as she was, and also enjoyed ocean fishing off the coasts of Mexico and Alaska. In 1958, Sid started Rebers Construction Company and Barb was the silent partner keeping things running smoothly at home so he could concentrate on building a successful business. In the early 1970's, Barb and Sid bought a 1908 farm house and land near Middle River, MN. She greatly enjoyed restoring the home, planting thousands of trees and other acts of nature conservation, and always had wonderful meals for the many hunters who came every Fall. Barb enjoyed her family, antiquing, gardening, and she was a fabulous cook. She cherished her friendships with members of Normandale Lutheran Church, The Woman's Club of Minneapolis (Godfrey Project Board), and the Edina Garden Club. Barb always looked for the positive even in the face of adversity and will be remembered by all who knew her for her sweetness and radiant smile. Special thanks to the dedicated staff at Friendship Village who provided much encouragement and kindness over the past 14 months, and to Park Nicollet Hospice for their compassion and support to Barb and her family. Barb was truly a "mom", always there for us, and her absence will be felt deeply. Memorials preferred to Normandale Lutheran Church, The Woman's Club of Minneapolis/Ard Godfrey House, and Opportunity Partners, causes close to Barb's heart.
