Barbara Jean (St.Andrew) Doty

Barbara Jean (St. Andrew) Doty age 61 of Coon Rapids, passed away 4/24/16. Funeral Service Thursday, 4/28/16 at 10:00 AM with visitation one hour prior at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. Interment at Fort Snelling. Barbara Jean Doty was born in Minneapolis to Audrey St. Andrew, and her husband, Oliver, in September of 1954. She grew up in Fridley with her younger siblings Patricia and John, where she loved to ice skate, and pal around with her friends Bobby and Gail. She adored a yellow Mustang that she bought with money from working with her sister at Poppin' Fresh. Barb graduated from Columbia Heights High, then completed an Associate's Degree in Business. Barb met Terrence Doty, of Columbia Heights, and they married a year and a half later in 1979. They bought a house together in Fridley, and were blessed with a baby boy, Eric, in Spring of 1981, whom was then joined by a baby sister in the Fall of 1984. She enjoyed having her niece Jennifer, and nephew, Michael, over for sleepovers. Barb then picked out a forever home in Coon Rapids, and the family moved up there in 1987, with her sister not too far behind. She kept a garden in the backyard, and would spend time reading on the front porch. She instilled her love of books in her children with frequent trips to public libraries. She spent many an evening with Jessica watching her brother play baseball at Sand Creek. She was also quite proud when it came to Jessica's and Jennifer's dance recitals. Barb went to work part-time at Catherine's in Roseville in 1995 with her sister-in-law Kathy, where she soon excelled, and was promoted to Store Manager of the Northtown location, which did so well the company would take her on yearly cruises. She loved making people feel better with the right outfit for their upcoming occasions, and was well liked in her role. Barb enjoyed spending time at home with her beloved husband Terry, and two cats Huey and Louie. She enjoyed watching the Twins and other local teams, and got quite excited when she caught a glimpse of her son-in-law Nic working cameras, whom she liked right away, and was subsequently treated like a second son by her and Terry. She also loved the annual summer vacations to Kavanaugh's Resort with her extended family, and the holidays. Barbara Jean Doty is survived by her loving family; husband Terry, son Eric, daughter Jessica, and her husband Nic, as well as her "twin" sister Pat, and her younger brother John, and their families.
