Arliss Janice Dooley

Arliss Janice Dooley, entered eternal life on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the University of Minnesota Hospital after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Arliss had a strong will to live, unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the love, prayers and support of family and friends to carry her through. Throughout her battle, she stood on her faith like a rock and never passed up an opportunity to share her faith testimony as the source of all her strength. Arliss was born May 11, 1935 in Cold Spring MN to Pete and Louise Hennen. The oldest of 4 beautiful sisters, Eloise, Carol and Lolly. Arliss was known for her extreme generosity, kind heart, positive attitude and contagious smile. She always saw the best in people and was soft spoken except when she stood up for those she loved and injustices she saw taking place in the world. Her friendly and easy demeanor won the trust and hearts of many. Many lives have been changed through her years by her commitment to sharing Jesus love and promise of salvation, to anyone who would listen. Due to her persistence, even some who wouldn’t! She passed on that spirituality to her children and grandchildren by her life long and tireless example. Her biggest joy in life was her dedication and love for her husband, children and grand children. She had an incredible sense of humor. Crazy, silly and playful. The Hennen sisters and her mom Louise, spent many hours laughing, joking and playing Scrabble. The “Hennenisms” will most certainly be a part of her incredible legacy. Arliss also loved camping, travel and was an incredible cook. She participated in many bible studies sometimes a couple at a time, including going through the BSF program. After graduation from High School and a year at St. Benedict College, Arliss moved to Minneapolis where she met Chuck Dooley when they both worked for NSP. They were married September 1958 and moved right into their newly built home in Eden Prairie. They lived there together with their 4 children Lisa, Jay, Shari and Katie, for 25 years until Chuck’s death from Lung Cancer in August 1983. After Chuck’s passing, Arliss continued to live in that same home until her own passing. She always said that home was the only place she could ever imagine living and never considered dating since “nobody could ever compare” to Chuck. Arliss filled her time and life with love of family, friends and the many things she was involved in. Throughout her illness, Arliss was steadfast in her knowledge that she would be reunited with those that went before her and confident in the Lords timeline for her life. She said many times that she could always feel the presence of “her Magnificent Jesus” with her and she had the peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7) so she was ready and unafraid. Preceded in death by her husband Chuck, Parents Pete and Louise Hennen, Sisters Carol Anderson and Lolly Anderson. In laws Walter and Iva Dooley, brother in law, Bill Dooley. Survivors include: Children Lisa (Steve Hahnfeldt), Jay (Chrissy Dooley), Shari (Tim Bendel) and Katie Dooley (John Stewart). Grandchildren: Brenna and Ryan Hahnfeldt, Shane and Erin Dooley, Nick and Lizzie Bendel, Emily, Tessa and Cole Stewart and Great Grandchildren Ryley Bendel, Drake and Dakota Dervie. Also beloved sister Eloise (Bob Johnson), Mark (Nancy Anderson), Paul (Kay Anderson) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends including her “honorary” brother Ed Tischleder. A celebration of Arliss’s life will be held on Friday, August 19th at Wooddale Church, 6630 Shady Oak Rd, Eden Prairie, MN 55344. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00pm. A dessert reception will be held immediately following the service. A private family internment will be held at Ft Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
