Arlene Louise Peltzer

Arlene Louise Peltzer, 97 of Eden Prairie, MN passed away peacefully on July 1, 2023, to be with Jesus. She was surrounded by family who was able to pray over her, read Bible scripture, and say goodbye with tears and jokes (which she loved). Arlene was born on June 14, 1926, to parents Anna and William Sutherland in St. Paul, MN. She finished high school and worked as an insurance manager up until she married. The love of her life, Howard Peltzer, proposed before heading off to fight in World War II, and she waited 4 years for him to return. Once he returned, they were married, and she became a homemaker. They had two children David and Janis. Their family was hit by tragedy when their son David was diagnosed with leukemia and died at the age of 17. Despite this tragedy it matured their faith in God, and they pressed on. Arlene and Howard were married for 64 years before Howard passed away in 2013. She lived a good long life of 97 years and was blessed to have 4 generations together for many of the latter years. She had 2 children, 2 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son David Peltzer, husband Howard Peltzer, and her parents Anna and William Sutherland. She is survived by her daughter Janis Gust, grandchildren Erin (Geoff) Wong and John (Amanda) Gust, and her 7 great grandchildren. She had the gift of being able to draw people out of their shell even when others couldn't. She just kept interacting with them, giving them cards with scripture, candy, and a smile. Her thought was something must have happened to them in their lives to make them that way, and she wanted to bring them some joy. The staff at her assisted living loved her, and said she was the sweetest. She loved flowers and birds and collected trinkets and intricately decorated bells. She read the newspaper weekly and would often cut out stories that she thought people would like and would give them out. She always gave the biggest warmest hugs. Services will be held at the Grace Church Chapel (enter Door 2) 9301 Eden Prairie Road, Eden Prairie, MN 55347 on July 21, 2023, (visitation at 10am, service at 11am). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, an organization Arlene felt strongly about. There will be a private interment. Revelation 21:1-5 Then I saw "a new heaven and a new earth," for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 'He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."
