Arlene R. Horvath, age 98, of Chanhassen, MN passed away January 30, 2025. Preceded in death by husband Joseph Horvath, daughter Karen, granddaughter Terri Goembel, son-in-law Dale Goembel, parents August and Stella Ott, and all 9 of her siblings. Survived by son Leonard, daughters Judy Goembel and Karol (Mark) Motzko, Granddaughter Trisha (Robby) Lien, Grandson Tom (Lindsey) Goembel, Granddaughter Sabre Motzko Olsen, Great Grandson Joey Lien and Great Granddaughters Olivia and Mackenzie Goembel, sister-in-law Beverly Ott, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Arlene was born on March 14, 1926, on the family farm in Princeton, Minnesota. She was the proud product of a hardworking, loving family, and she carried that strength with her throughout her life. After graduating from Princeton High School in 1944, Arlene worked in Minneapolis before marrying the love of her life, Joseph, on September 21, 1946. Together, they built a beautiful life, sharing 51 years of marriage before his passing in 1997. Their love and partnership remained a cornerstone of Arlene's life and a cherished memory for all who knew them. Arlene was a woman of many talents. She had an incredible passion for sewing and was a gifted seamstress. There wasn't anything she couldn't sew, even if it meant creating her own patterns. Her hands brought countless projects to life, including over 100 baby bibs, a testament to her care and attention to detail. Arlene's creativity didn't stop there; she also crocheted beautifully, creating works of art with every stitch. But Arlene's talents extended beyond sewing and crocheting. She was an exceptional baker and cook. Her pies, cookies, and other baked goods were the stuff of legend, and anyone lucky enough to have tasted them will forever remember how delicious they were. And let's not forget about her canning. Every year, she meticulously canned quarts of fruits and vegetables, ensuring that her family would always have a taste of summer, even in the coldest months. Arlene was also known for her love of games. Whether it was cards or board games, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, laughing and having fun. Winning didn't matter to her-it was all about the experience of being together. Her spirit and sense of humor made every game feel like a celebration, no matter the outcome. There were a few things Arlene truly adored. Soap operas, for one, and no matter what, nothing would stop her from watching them. She also found great joy in the drama and excitement of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. She would often talk on the phone with her sister, Doris, discussing the latest episode, analyzing every twist and turn with passion. Those conversations were a highlight of her life and a reminder of the deep bond she shared with her family. Above all, Arlene loved her family. She was devoted to them, and her love for them was boundless. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took immense joy in watching them grow, always offering guidance, wisdom, and unconditional love. Arlene's legacy is not just in the pies she baked or the clothes she sewed, but in the love she gave so freely. Her family was her pride and joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and a spirit that will never be forgotten. As we say goodbye to Arlene, let us carry with us the lessons she taught us-of kindness, of hard work, of joy in the small things, and of the importance of family. Arlene's memory will live on in each of us, and her love will continue to inspire us every day. Rest in peace, Arlene. You were loved deeply, and you will be missed always.
