Anne Maureen Wittenberg

Anne Maureen Wittenberg (Goggin), age 77, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024 with her family at her side while listening to Celtic Women's Amazing Grace in Arden Hills, MN. Anne was born on March 25, 1947 in Benson, MN to Charles and Zelda Goggin. She grew up in a loving home in Appleton, MN. Anne met and married David Wittenberg in 1975 and they would put down their roots in Chaska, MN. They raised two beautiful daughters, Juli Ann and Lisa. Anne worked for Cargil as a credit specialist. She was very proud of the defensive driving course she passed that enabled her to drive the ride share van, which is where she would meet some of her life long friends. Her weekends were devoted to family. They were spent visiting her parents in Appleton, enjoying the cabin on Bay Lake where she'd while away the days in her swinging chair watching her grandkids play in the water or taking the Big Blue Camper to Fleming Lake. Anne enjoyed shopping, getting her nails and hair done, playing solitaire, reading The Appleton Press as well as romance books and gossip magazines, and talking to her friends and family on the phone. If you didn't answer the first time she would try and try again until you did. She was proud of her Irish roots. Her large Irish Santa collection could rival any in Dublin. Above all, Anne's life was defined by taking care of her family. Her home was always open to anyone who may have needed a friendly ear, a meal to eat or a safe place to rest. Anne loved her family and friends and would make a point to tell them she loved and appreciated them as often as possible, sometimes with a hug, but most often with a daily phone call or two, or a thoughtful gift that she had picked up at Shopko, because "it was a really good deal!". Anne was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Zelda Goggin who raised her with unconditional faith, love and support; and younger sister Mary Rothers. She is survived by husband David, daughters Juli Ann Al-Hilwani and Lisa (Marc) Horowicki, siblings Julie (Dan) Dibble, Charles Jr. (Barb) Goggin, Mike Goggin and Mike Rothers, and grandchildren Alex, Alya (Ben) Sprenger, Charles, Libby, Benji, and her favorite of them all, great-granddaughter Rosalie. Also survived by many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends She took such pride in being a grandma and was over the moon when she became a great-grandma this last year. She will be incredibly missed but her loved ones have found peace in knowing that she will never have another "broken" cell phone nor ever have to be the passenger to dad's driving again. She has a different broach that perfectly matches every outfit while she guides us through the rest of our lives with love and patience and a bit of eye rolling exasperation. A celebration of life will be held at Washburn-McReavy in Shoreview, MN. Visitation will be July 26 from 4-7pm with additional visitation the following day, July 27 from 10-11am, and a memorial service beginning at 11am with a luncheon to follow.
