Andrew Duda

Andrew Michael Duda, 87 of Bloomington, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday January, 29th 2023. He was born in Goodman, WI and is preceded in death by parents Carl and Stella, brothers and sisters Carl, Kathryn, Robert. Alice, and James. Andy is survived by his former wife, Joleen Duda, children, Patrick (Beverly), Steve, and Lisa and special friend, Tim Bolnick; brother, Larry Duda; sister-in-law Sue Pratt; brother-in-law Richard Miller; grandchildren Justin (Jaci), Nick and special friend, Madeline Beard; great-grandson, Maximilian; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Andy was born on a farm in rural Northeastern Wisconsin. He was a hunter, fisherman, and avid outdoorsman of everything in between. He attended high school at Goodman High School. Where he continued his education at St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI. Andy graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was involved in Alpha Phi Omega, Future Officers Club, Future Teachers Club, Varsity Football, Track and Intramurals. More importantly he LOVED the Packers! 1956 he joined the ROTC at St. Norbert's and went to Ft. Riley, Kansas assigned to Company B, 1st Platoon. As a lieutenant he furthered his advancement in the Army and was assigned to Ft. Bliss, El Paso, TX. While in El Paso he was the base Wildlife Manager taking care of all of the wildlife on this large base. He enjoyed wrangling up the scorpions and rattlesnakes he could find. He worked as a biology teacher at the State Reformatory in Green Bay, WI where he met his former wife of 32 years, Joleen. They lived in Green Bay and had Pat and Steve. In 1966 they moved to Minnesota when Andy got a job with Sperry-Univac which later turned to Unysis. They had Lisa later in Minnesota. Andy then worked for Kraus Anderson Company where he was the VP of Human Resources. He was proud of what he accomplished. He retired January 8th, 2001. After Andy retired, he continued his love of the outdoors. He went deer hunting every November and fishing any chance he could. He picked up snowmobiling later in life and would drive around for hours exploring anywhere he could go! As many of you may have known, Andy had many medical issues that kept him from travelling, being in the outdoors, and truly being the outgoing man that he was. Andy was a very faithful man and took his faith seriously. When he was healthy, he attended mass a few times a week. However, when he was unable to leave the house he still participated in mass daily. Andy was also very generous man by giving to many charities and his church. He became involved in the Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight in 2001 and 2002. In 2005, he was awarded Outstanding Knight of the Year. He loved to spread the word of the Lord and help people too. Andy loved to converse with anyone! He always had to find out where someone was from and where they went to school, just in case their paths may have crossed at some point! He was so proud of graduating from St. Norbert College. He always reminisced about being the quarterback of the team and leading them to many victories! Andy also loved his family and was proud of each of his children and grandchildren. In August, he became a great grandfather, and his face lit up with joy every time he got to see Max! Andy and Joleen rekindled a strong and supportive friendship, which they both cherished. He had many nieces and nephews who he was close too and loved very much. He loved catching up on their lives and was proud of their successes too. Andy was one-of-a-kind and will be missed by so many. His legacy will live on in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. Andy is now free of pain and with our Savior and those who proceeded him.
