Alphonso Gayle, 88, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and music. A man of profound faith in Jesus Christ, he was deeply involved in his church, where his devotion and service touched the lives of many. His belief was not just something he carried-it was something he lived, sharing his love and kindness with all who crossed his path. The eldest of seven siblings, he was looked upon as a leader, guiding his family with strength, wisdom, and a steadfast spirit. His presence was a source of stability and encouragement, always lifting others up with his unwavering support. Blessed with an exceptional tenor voice, he graced stages both near and far, sharing his gift with audiences that included Pope John Paul II and the legendary Luciano Pavarotti. His music was not just an art-it was an extension of his soul, bringing joy to those who heard it. Beyond his artistry, he was a man of warmth, humor, and boundless generosity. His outgoing nature and infectious laughter made him a beloved friend to many. As a bus driver, he never simply transported passengers; he connected with them, often bringing newfound friends' home to meet his family. Together with Cecilia, he opened his heart and home even further, adopting five children and fulfilling a mother's last wish that they be raised with love and care. His kindness, selflessness, and devotion shaped the lives of all who knew him, leaving behind an enduring legacy of compassion. Alphonso was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Ana (1993), his second wife, Cecilia (2015), and his dear daughter, Izela (2024). He is survived by daughter, Jackie Stasson (Tom); sons, Dangelo Gayle (Laurie) and Wilbur Gayle; grandchildren, Andrew Stasson, Allison Stasson, Adam Stasson (Emmalee), Anita Stasson, Jonathan Gayle, Stephen Baker (Lydia), Jessica Anderson (Cole), Meleya Gayle, Ashton Gayle; adopted grandchildren, Terrance Hodges (Trina), Tywain Hodges, Dakela Kirkland, Danye Kirkland, Lakesha Kirkland, Leonard Kirkland, and Danisha Robinson (Brian). His faith, his laughter, and his love will live on in the hearts of those he touched. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 20, at noon at Bethel's Rock Church, 14201 Cedar Ave, Apple Valley, MN. Visitation one hour prior. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
