Allen Lee Lathrop

Lathrop, Allen L. "Lee" Age 82, of St. Paul, MN Lee passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2021. He will be sorely missed by many family and friends who believe that he's now joining his beautiful wife Dee (Dora Sepeda) in heaven where they can be together again. Born in Grand Rapids, MN, Lee grew up in the Midway area of St. Paul with his parents Verne and Christine (Eilek) and his twin brother Allie (Alford). After serving his country in the U.S. Navy as well as the Naval Reserves, Lee married the love of his life, Dee, and became a father at the tender age of 21. He enjoyed a long career working for the City of St. Paul Water Services and belonged to the famous "Lorence Tigers" men's club of which he was the last surviving member. So many good times were had with Dee traveling to Mexico with friends and family that they can't be counted. In the early 80's they bought acreage in Burnett County, WI and started the legacy known simply as "The Land". After Dee passed ten years ago, Lee's free time was spent with his kids and grandchildren who all know him as "Papa", having fun, cooking meals, playing games and showing his silly side. He was a person always and forever helping anyone who needed it any hour of the day or night. Lee also enjoyed many an afternoon with his cohorts at his favorite watering hole, The Victorian. When he wasn't helping someone somewhere with something he kept himself busy designing and creating wooden art in many forms. It was a side of him not all people knew about as he was such a humble and selfless person. Dementia eventually took hold but even in his last days Lee's personality remained untouched. He was an intelligent, kind, and loving man who always wore a smile and at this time he would want the people he knew to celebrate the good times and toast to a life well lived. Lee is survived by his brother Alford "Allie"; children, Theresa Eilek (Galvan), Johnny (Sheila) Galvan, Christine (Mike) Palm, and Elizabeth "Liz" (Chip) Hermes; grandchildren, Cory, Shanna, Angela, Mathew, Allison, Steven, and Anna as well as 7 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Lee's life will be held at a later date. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Our Lady of Peace Hospice Care in St. Paul, 2076 St Anthony Ave, St Paul, MN 55104, ourladyofpeacemn.org
