Allan Lund

Lund, Allan R. Of Mpls passed away on February 9, 2006 at the age of 81. He was born August 22, 1924 in Dawson, MN where he graduated from high school. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Jean Lund. They were high school sweethearts. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Mildred & Myron P. Lund; and his sister, Marjorie. Allan served 3 years in the United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific during WW II (1942-1945). He was a combat veteran and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Allan graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School and was admitted to the Bar in January, 1951, when he joined Gerhard Sonnesyn in the practice of law. Gerhard died in 1963. Allan continued his general practice of law until his retirement in 1985. For more than 20 years he served as Attorney to the Royal Norwegian Consulate General with offices in Minneapolis and also the International Lodge of the Sons of Norway. In April 1979, His Majesty King Olav V of Norway bestowed the KNIGHTS CROSS FIRST CLASS upon Allan. He was a past president of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4801 France Ave South. He was a 50 year member of Norumbega Lodge of Sons of Norway, Minnesota State and Hennepin County Bar Associations, American Legion Richfield #435 and Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. He was a long time member of Grafil Club, Torske Klubben, Minneapolis Athletic Club and several numismatic organizations. He was an avid bridge and card player, reader, golfer and patriot. Allan is survived by 5 children, John Myron Lund (Evelyn), Diane Knutson (Richard), Bruce Lund (Deanna), Carol Allyn and Janet Lund; and also grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family thanks Fairview Hospice, special thanks to nurse Mary. Funeral service Monday, February 13 at 11 am at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4801 France Ave South, Mpls. Visitation Sunday, February 12, 2-5pm, Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, West 50th St and Hwy 100, Edina. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. If desired memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society.
