Adrienne Athens Psihos

Psihos, Adrienne "Donna" age 83 of Edina, was welcomed by her Lord and Savior on July 22, 2024, joining her beloved husband George. Donna was born in New Haven, CT, and grew up in a multi-family home with her cousins, who remained close throughout her life. Donna graduated from Southern Connecticut State Teacher's College and during that time met the love of her life. Donna met George at a Greek Orthodox Young Adult convention in New York in September 1961. On his way home from that convention, George bought a bride doll at the airport, sent it to Donna and told her he would make her a June bride. True to his word, Donna and George were married in June, 1962 and Donna moved to Minnesota where George lived. She became a special education teacher and taught until her children were born. Together they built a life filled with love, faith and service until George passed away in 2012. Donna's greatest joy was her family. Donna and George opened their home to children needing a stable and loving environment, and raised two of those children as their own. Donna was often a second mother to kids in the neighborhood and family friends. Donna's unwavering love, faith and kindness touched everyone she met. She was a dear and faithful friend, always ready to offer support and guidance. Donna and George traveled extensively, to Greece, Italy, Turkey, Russia, the Middle East, and of course, her favorite destination, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, often with her cousin Mike Pappas and his wife Gail. A devoted member of the Greek Orthodox Church, Donna was deeply involved in her community. She was a member of the Philoptochos Society, the philanthropic arm of the Greek Orthodox Church. She was also a leader with Healing House for many years, an organization committed to helping struggling families get back on their feet. May her memory be eternal. Donna is survived by her children, Diana (Conn) Choles, Chris (Beth) Psihos, Kelli Gammello; grandchildren, Grace, Kalli, Matthew, Sophia, Max, Giano, Allyssa, Zoe and Mia. Preceded in death by husband George; parents Ella and Chris Spiros. Funeral at 11:00am Thursday, August 1st, with visitation beginning at 10:00am at St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church, 3450 Irving Ave South, Minneapolis with a luncheon following the service.
