Wolf, Adam Michael Adam Michael Wolf, a long- time resident of the Minneapolis area, died of accidental causes April 26 at his vacation home in Miami, Florida. He was 36 years old. His unexpected death brings such sadness; as he touched many lives with equal measure of love, humor and intelligence. A memorial service for Adam will take place on Wednesday, June 19, at the Washburn- McReavy Funeral Home, 5000 West 50th St. at Vernon Ave. in Edina. It will begin with visitation at 4:00 p.m, followed by a ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Adam was born February 1, 1977, in Minneapolis to Michael and Kathleen Wolf. He attended Edina Public Schools, graduating from Edina High School in 1995. In high school, Adam was an honors student, a scuba diver, a downhill skier, an emergency room volunteer, a talented multi-instrument musician as well as a successful competitive swimmer for the Hornets, where he had great admiration for his coach and mentor Art Downey. His love of swimming was life-long as he competed internationally and coached at the master's level. After graduating from high school, Adam enrolled at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul as a Thomas Aquinas Scholar. For his sophomore year he transferred to Cornell University, where he majored in Economics and completed his bachelor's degree from the Ivy League School. His post-collegiate career centered on analysis, in which he became an accomplished "data raker." He excelled in ferreting out useful patterns from large data sets and then generating insights for his business clients. Adam worked for 10 years in New York City for a number of financial firms including Merrill Lynch. He then moved back to Minneapolis to work for The Nielsen Company, the largest consumer research firm in the world. There, he used his skills to consult with Fortune 500 companies such as General Mills, assisting them with analysis, consumer research, competitive intelligence and marketing insights. On June 5, 2010, Adam married his partner, Allen Burch, in a beautiful ceremony in Minneapolis. Both were soon transferred to Atlanta and established a charming home filled with the reminders of their many travels together. Adam's passport was completely stamp-filled, taking him all over Europe, Asia, the Middle East, the Caribbean and most recently to Latin America and Australia. Adam had eclectic interests in his life. His music tastes were decidedly heavy metal with Metallica being his favorite and attending their concert on the infield of Yankee Stadium was a stand-out experience for him. His sense of humor was biting and showed a striking understanding of politics, pop culture, science, history, literature and trivia. His culinary pursuits ran toward the refined; he could easily turn a simple sole into perfection on a plate. His advocacy was steadfastly centered on gay rights, where he had an unflinching conviction that all deserve to be treated equally before the law. Always grateful for the love, understanding and support from his own parents, Adam was an especially committed advocate for LGBT youth made homeless by uncaring and ignorant parents. Ever the analyst, his favorite weekend pursuit was handicapping sports where he never saw a statistic he didn't find worth exploring. He loved professional sports, particularly football and basketball, analyzing draft choices, teams and players, especially with his father. Adam was close to his large extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins on both the Wolf and Clower sides of the family, and he loved spending time with them in the lake country near Detroit Lakes as well as in Fargo where both of his parents grew up. As his grand- parents grew older and became more dependent on family members, Adam always found the time to help and be with them, which they greatly appreciated. Adam is survived by his partner and husband, Allen Burch of Atlanta; his parents, Kathleen (Clower) and Michael Wolf of Edina; and his large extended family.
