Wanda Ann Frisch

Wanda Ann Frisch Wanda lived a full, gracious life from February 23, 1933, to September 12, 2023. She was born in Canby, Minnesota. She attended high school at Patrick Henry High in north Minneapolis. Wanda later moved to Brooklyn Center. Her two daughters, Peggy and Patti, came along while living there. Wanda and her family first lived in what today we would call a "tiny house". In this small home, they loved to garden in their huge plot, consisting of the other lot that they owned. Peggy and Patti remember many, many family celebrations that were held in the small home over the years, involving cousins and grandparent from all sides. These memories bring joy to them both. Wanda - mother, sister, aunt, Grammy and Great Grammy. She was all of these and more. Wanda loved the little ones much like Christ, surrounding Himself with the children one day long ago. Anytime the kids were around, she was smiling, playing games with them, showing her tender, loving care toward each one individually. She and Elroy especially loved to play the game, There's a Yeti in My Spaghetti, during which there was usually cheating from both contestants. She also really enjoyed the game of Farkle, often times beating the entire family without even realizing it. Wanda loved gardening whether it consisted of pampering her indoor plants or the garden outside. Often she would urgently instruct one of us that it was time to transplant one of her precious, flowering plants. There was no time to waste when she thought it was time. Her plants were always gorgeous, lush, and brimming with life. She was truly a master green thumb. Of course, keeping her apartment at 85 degrees year around really helped, too. Looking around Wanda's apartment and kitchen table, one realizes how much love she had for God and our Lord Jesus Christ. She took her faith seriously but quietly. She often let us know how she longed for the Eucharist - the Body and Blood of Christ. Many years ago, she gave us a framed embroidery that illustrates both her love for God and gardening. "One is nearer to God's heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth." She now lives in the heavenly paradise, seeing and touching our Lord Jesus Christ. Wanda is survived by her sister Frances Kresa, brother Emery Erdman, daughters Peggy (Duane) Derro, Patti (Paul) Griffin, stepson Phil Frisch and grandchildren Nicole (Dustin) Lyon, Stephanie (Vic) Avis, Jacob Griffin, Melissa Yaritz, and Kristin Yaritz, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband Fran Frisch, her parents, her siblings Roger Erdman, Colleen Ford, and Elroy Erdman. The memorial service will be held on Monday, September 25, at 11:00 AM, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM, prior to the service. It will be held at Washburn McReavy Glen Haven Chapel at 5125 West Broadway, Crystal, Minnesota.
