Vera Olga Bertha Meyer

Vera Olga Bertha Meyer was born on February 13, 1933, in Collins Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of John O. William Gorr and Ida (Henke) Gorr. Vera was baptized on April 30, 1933 at Grace American Lutheran Church in Brownton, MN, and was later confirmed in her Lutheran faith at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, MN. She received her education in Stewart and Hutchinson and received her General Education Development Certificate (High School Level Equivalency) on October 30, 1972. Vera was united in marriage to Marvin Dees and they had one son, Cory Dees. On March 19, 1976, Vera was united in marriage to Harold Reinhold Meyer in Watertown, SD. They shared 19 years together until Harold passed away on June 28, 1995. Vera worked at 3M as a machine operator and material supplier for 20 years and worked as a waitress at The Gold Coin and earlier at the Beacon Café in Hutchinson, MN. Vera enjoyed making doilies, crocheting, crafts, artwork, gardening including planting apple, pear and cherry trees, playing cards and bingo. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, MN. Her favorite dessert was strawberry shortcake with whipped cream. Her favorite travel spot was Anchorage, AK and orange was her favorite color. Vera died at Augustana Chapel View Nursing Home in Hopkins, MN on August 6, 2022, at the age of 89. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida Gorr, Husbands, Marvin Dees and Harold Meyer, Brothers, Vernon Gorr and Donald Gorr, Sisters, Evelyn Meyer, Darlene Halstead and Marian Dvorak and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. She is survived by her son Cory Dees and Kathy McMullen of Farmington, MN, Step-children Ronald Meyer and his wife Sharon of Minnetonka, MN, and Carol Dunn and her husband Philip of Hopkins MN, Step-granddaughter, Michelle Neikirk and her husband Peter and their two children, Morgan and Joshua of Shakopee, MN and many nieces and nephews. The family of Vera Meyer would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and kindness in this time of sorrow.
