Terrence Schultz

Age 58, of St. Paul Born January 26, 1954 Terry gently passed away at home on April 20, 2012 and is survived by his mother Gloria Schultz, brother Jeff (Linda) Schultz, sister Linda (Don) Belcourt, sister Cindy (Tom) Koelling, nephews Nathan Kooy, Tommy Koelling, Christian Koelling, Ben Schultz, Martin Schultz, and nieces Claire Schultz, Gudrun Schultz, Eve Schultz Schellenberg, Ingrid Schultz, Greta Schultz, Kathryn Belcourt, Ursula Schultz. Terry was preceded in death by his father Ken Schultz. Terry grew up in Chaska, MN and was a graduate of Chaska High School. He attended Macalester College and graduated in 1976 but maintained an active life-long membership in the Macalester alumni association. After college Terry traveled extensively overseas and taught English as a second language in Saudi Arabia. When he returned to the US he settled in Thousand Oaks, CA where he began his career as a technical writer for Litton Corporation. He eventually returned to Minnesota in 1990 and became a senior technical writer for Silicon Graphics (formerly Cray Research) where he spent twenty-two years on a team developing the fastest computers in the world. His true passion in life was a deep appreciation and respect for nature. He was deeply moved by the beauty and awe of the natural world and had a special fondness for Yosemite National Park in California and Denali National Park in Alaska. Terry had a unique and special relationship with wild animals, especially bald eagles. They would mysteriously appear for him whether he was walking along the Mississippi River or hiking his favorite trails in Minnehaha Park. Terry cherished his dogs Barney and Jasper, he loved taking long walks with them in state parks and especially in the wilderness surrounding the family cabin. He is deeply loved by his friends and family and the special moments we shared with him will be in our hearts forever. Evening visitation will be on Monday, April 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 PM, followed by a memorial service on Tuesday, May 1 at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow. Both services will be held at Washburn-McReavy funeral chapel, 2300 W. Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, MN.
