Susan Hougnon

Kallsen nee Klouda Susan's inspirational and heart-warming struggles, first with heart disease, then with pancreatic cancer ended 5/4/10. Susan, 66 was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Margaret Klouda; and brothers, Jack and Roger Klouda. She is survived by her husband of 23 plus years, John J. Hougnon; sons, Scott (Terri) Kallsen, Ft. Worth, TX, Sean (Andrea) Kallsen, Waterford, MI; daughter, Tricia (Tad) Swedin, Cannon Falls; and nine grandchildren, Taylor, Elle, Sara (Ft. Worth), Nicole, Halle, Jack, Marissa (Waterford), Samuel and Sydney (Cannon Falls). Sue's survivors also include stepdaughters, Michele (Peter) Spiller, Scottsdale, AZ, Mary (Bill) Benjamin, Edina, Jane Hougnon, Albuquerque, NM, Tom (Kelly) Hougnon, St. Louis Park; and five step-grandchildren, Max and Zach (Scottsdale), Willie, Andy and Annella (Edina). She is also survived by first husband, Bruce Kallsen and by scores of other relatives. Born in Minneapolis, Sue graduated from Hopkins High School in 1961. She attended St. Cloud State University for two and one half years and the University of Minnesota for one year, majoring in Business Administration. Susan was employed for 21 years with Honeywell where she was an executive Assistant in Human Resources. In 2009, Sue retired from Thermo Fisher Scientific, Coon Rapids, where she was Executive Assistant to the company's president. Sue also worked as a sales person (part-time evenings) for 11 years at Marshall Fields (Macy's ) in addition to her Honeywell career. Susan is lovingly remembered by her very supportive and caring family as well as her many, many friends and co-workers. She was a wonderful mother and wife who possessed a most kind, yet assertive, sensitive and strong-willed personality always with a truly outstanding sense of humor. She was very much a "perky, little blond bombshell", her husband, John, said. She loved cooking great meals, her many favorite TV shows, films and most of all precious, valued times with her children and grandchildren. Visitation will be Fri. 5/7/10 between 5-8PM at Washburn-McReavy Strobeck Johnson Chapel, 1400 Main St., Hopkins (952) 938-9020, with a celebration service 11:00AM, Sat. 5/8/10 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 715 Minnetonka Mills Road, Hopkins (952) 935-1753. There will be additional viewing one hour prior to the celebration service at Gethsemane.
