Sandra "Sandy" Albert

Albert, Sandra Kay "Sandy" of Bonita Springs, Florida and formerly of Minnetonka, died peacefully with her family at her side on November 25, 2010 at the age of 68 following a courageous battle with cancer. Sandy was born March 9, 1942 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Frank and Ethel (Leraas) Schultz. She was raised in Minneapolis, Brooklyn Park and Lester Prairie, where she helped her parents run the local Red and White Supermarket. Upon graduating from Lester Prairie High School Sandy attended St. Olaf College where she received a degree in English. She taught high school English in the Robbinsdale School District for five years. She met Neil in 1965 and they were married November 20, 1966. They moved to Golden Valley in 1968 and she became a stay-at-home mom following the birth of Leanne in 1969 and Mark in 1971. The family moved to Minnetonka in 1979 and Sandy was a very active volunteer at school and at All Saints Lutheran Church. Sandy loved singing in Reach Out choir, travelling, playing bridge, and spending time with her family and friends. She and Neil bought a home in Bonita Springs, Florida in 1995. Sandy was very involved with Bonita Bay Bocce Ball Club, Christus Victor Lutheran Church and their Relay for Life team. Sandy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Neil; her children, Leanne (Kelsey) Brown and Mark (Bridget) Albert; and four grandchildren, Julia, Joe, Will and Samson. She is also survived by her brother, Michael (Loretta) Schultz and her numerous nieces, nephews and many dear relatives and friends. A celebration of life for Sandy Albert will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church, 15915 Excelsior Blvd, Minnetonka at 11 AM with visitation two hours before, on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Reception to follow the service. Private interment at Dawn Valley Memorial Park in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the American Cancer Society and sent to Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Naples, Florida at 15600 N. Tamiami Trail, Naples, FL 34110.
