Peter Michael Lundin

Peter Michael Lundin, age 75, entered eternal life on August 11, 2023, following a struggle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Peter was born January 14, 1948 in Minneapolis, Minn. to Marie (Brown) Lundin and Chester T. Lundin. He attended Good Shepherd School in Golden Valley and enjoyed adventuring with his friends in Theodore Wirth Park. He graduated from Benilde High School and went on to St. Cloud State College to receive his B.S. in mathematics with a minor in computer science. It was there, in the college's first co-ed dormitory, he met the woman of his dreams, marrying Linda Christian in 1974. As a software engineer, Peter helped design the networking protocol for the earliest ATM machines, working for Unisys, Diebold, and Comten, which was then acquired by NCR. He stayed with the company through several mergers and survived multiple layoff threats. He was recognized for his problem solving and dedication to customer service. His work sent him around the world, visiting clients across Asia. After settling in Blaine, Minn., Peter became active in local politics, serving on the local charter commission, and as a city council member for two terms, narrowly losing a bid for Mayor in 1981. Peter also generously gave of his time and talents building homes for Habitat for Humanity, serving as a Scout Master and member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Timothy Catholic Church. He was well known for his generous spirit, helping friends and neighbors with projects of all kinds. He enjoyed social gatherings with family, friends and neighbors and thrived as the host. Peter is now reunited with his parents, Marie and Chet, and his brothers James and Richard Lundin. He is dearly missed by his wife, Linda; daughter, Christina (Dan) Fox; son, Mark (Trisha) Lundin; elder sister, Marcia Lundin; twin sister, Patrice Roesner; grandchildren, Noah, Alex, Juniper, and Julian; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 25 2023, at 11 AM with visitation at 10 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 707 89th Ave NE, Blaine. Evening visitation Thursday August 24 4-7 PM at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes can be sent to Habitat for Humanity or the Knights of Columbus at St. Timothy.
