Peter Henningsen

Henningsen, Peter, Jr. Age 83, of Eden Prairie, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2010, with his family by his side, of esophageal cancer. Peter was born October 6, 1926, in Mpls, MN. Survived by wife, Donna Buresh; children, Deborah (Stew) Anderson, Pamela (Brad) Anderson, James (Sallie) Henningsen; grandchildren, Kristin (Andrew), Erik (Emily), Maren, Lauren, Michael, Nicole, Chris and Jenny, and foster sons, Bob, Alvin, Sinh, Nho, Son, Chung, Hung and the Nghe families; sisters, Dorothea Daily and Margaret Henningsen. Preceded in death by beloved son, David; sister, Mary Ann Kripps; and his faithful dog, Pu-Ke. Peter graduated from St. Louis Park H.S. ?44, U.S. Navy ?44-'46, BBA Industrial Eng. U of M ?50. Founding President - MN Chapter, Institute of Pkg. Prof., Nat'l Pres. and Nat'l. Board Chair; Who's Who in American since ?72, and elected to Packaging Education Foundation Hall of Fame. Peter began his career at Honeywell, 1950-1972, Sr. Packaging& Material Handling Eng.; 1972-Mgr. Pkg. World- Wide ITT Corp, NYC, living in White Plains, NY until 1991; 1980 to present: Pkg Consultant, Advisory Chairman for packaging education programs at Hennepin Tech. College, Wisc. Indianhead Tech. College and Dunwoody College of Technology. President of Summerhill Co-op, Eden Prairie, past 4 years. Pete will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grand- father, true friend, good listener, inspiring and gentle, loved family birthdays, enjoyed grandchildren's sports and music, NY Times puzzles, books, jazz, lap swimming, walks, cruises, world-wide travels and Wisconsin cabin. We wish to express our gratitude to Methodist Hospital ICU doctors Lisa Illig and Nicolette Myers, the nursing staff, and to a very special, caring oncologist Dr. Mark Gavin. Visitation Thurs., Sept 2, 4-7 PM at Washburn-McReavy, 7625 Mitchell Rd (1 blk N of Hwy 5), Eden Prairie. Service Fri., Sept 3, 11 AM with visitation 1 hour prior at Eden Prairie United Methodist Church, 15050 Scenic Heights Rd. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
