Mary De Vries

De Vries, Mary Myrl (Muetzel) 1932-2007 Mary Myrl (Muetzel) De Vries of Edina departed this life Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 2PM. Preceding her in death were her parents, Myrrel and Edith Mutezel; and sisters Barbara (McCauley) Ray and Jeanne Collinge. Sisters surviving are Beverly (Ray) Nereng of La Crosse, WI, and Jackie (Larry) Wims of Valencia, CA. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles Henry De Vries of Edina, MN; a daughter Joy Annette (John) Englund of Burnsville, MN; and sons Timothy Thomas (Kimberly) of Richfield, MN, Stephen Charles (Halcyon) of Eagan, MN and John Marc (Brenda) of Delano, MN. Also surviving are grandchildren Nicole Marie (Ricky) Healy, Jacob Charles Englund, Jill Amanda Englund, Jack Hunter De Vries, Shannon Molly De Vries, Dillon Paul Seiffert, Alec John De Vries, Alora Mary De Vries and Delaney Jean De Vries. In addition she has one great-grandchild, Luke Timothy Healy. Several nieces and nephews are among family survivors. Mary was born in Toledo, IA, October 27, 1932. She grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA. She graduated from Spencer (Iowa) High School. She obtained a teaching degree from the then Iowa State Teachers College (now University of Northern Iowa), Cedar Falls, IA. Mary taught elementary education in the schools of Perry and Boone, IA. She successively lived in Cedar Rapids, Parkersburg, Albia and Harlan, IA. She also lived in Silver Spring and Rockville, MD before moving to Wayzata, MN and subsequently to Edina, MN. Memorials may be given according to donor's choice. Some of Mary's preferences are Normandale Lutheran Church Foundation, The Salvation Army, The American Cancer Society and N.C. Little Memorial Hospice, Inc. An opportunity to visit with the family will be from 6-8PM Thursday evening, June 7 in the FIRESIDE ROOM OF NORMANDALE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 6100 Normandale Road, Edina, MN. A celebration of Mary's life and Resurrection Service will be at 11AM on Friday, June 8 at NORMANDALE LUTHERAN CHURCH (952-929-1697). Arrangements are by Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel (612-920-3996). INterment will be private at Lakewood Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
