Marilyn Devereaux

Devereaux, Marilyn Jean Age 83, of Edina, was called home to be with her beloved savior, Jesus Christ on Mother's Day May 13, 2012. She was surrounded by her family on her last days. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Robert. Preceded in death by son, Philip and daughter, Kathleen. Survived by children, Dan (Maureen), Mary Pat (Ken) Hauck, John (Laura), deceased, Anne Marie (Chris) Gardner; 8 grandchildren, Sean & Collette (Dan and Maureen), Brian & Kyle (Mary Pat and Ken), Michael (John and Laura), Fisher, Ruby & West (Anne Marie and Chris); and one great-grandchild, Lillian (Kyle and Melissa). Marilyn grew up on the south side of Chicago. She was born to Helen and Harry Muckian, one of five children. She graduated from Aquinas High School and attended Mundelein College. She raised six exceptional children and was the consummate mom; always there for her children and managed a busy household with whatever resources she had. She made all her houses into beautiful homes with her exquisite taste and decorating skills. She loved spending time with her friends and family enjoying many activities like tennis (not golf!), biking around lake Harriet, aqua-aerobics, traveling with Bob, antique and art shopping, and she was an avid reader too. We must not forget her beloved dog, Brandy whom she loved to walk and dote on. She was a woman with a strong faith and had a great group of friends in prayer group and Bible studies. She served as a volunteer at her church (Our Lady of Grace), Meals on Wheels, the League of Catholic Women, just to name a few. She will be remembered for her wit and wisdom and compassion for others. She was well loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She would want us to continue on in life with much love, joy and laughter. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 5 at the Church of Our Lady of Grace, 5071 Eden Ave. S., Edina. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at church. Private interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
