Lois M Christenson

Lois Christenson was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. First in her life was loving and serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! She also loved her earthly family with all her heart. She always had a goal that her whole family would be saved and end up in Heaven with her. She devoted her life to raising her kids so much that she waited until her youngest was preparing for college before she got her driver's license to go into the workforce. She purchased her first car with her youngest son (in 11th grade at the time); a 1965 red Mustang fastback! Her son didn't get to use it much! Mom had several jobs in her "after-kid" period. Her longest tenure was at Honeywell as a Procurement Control Analyst. She lived life to the fullest and she wasn't ready to leave this earth right up to the end of her 98 years here. The Lord blessed her with long life. She was able to live by herself with full mental capacity up until the last few days. At age 97 she decided to quit driving, no one told her she had to! She was so blessed; how many people can say that? Back in the late 60's for a period of about 10 years, she started a hobby of oil painting. She was very artistically talented, and this endeavor was a joy for her but also frustrating. She struggled at getting on the canvas what she had in her head, and she felt she could never quite get there. This may be a common trait for many artists! She displayed many of her paintings over the years at the Uptown Art Fair and sold quite a few there. Another of her hobbies was collecting Beanie Babies, she ended up with hundreds of them even after giving some away! One time she waited in line late at night (yes there were other people there) at a Hallmark store in Brooklyn Park until they opened in the morning just to get a certain new Beanie release! At Christmas time, the day she always loved to celebrate our Lord's birth was Christmas Eve. Oh, how she loved Christmas Eve! Her artistic abilities were at full display as she meticulously decorated the house and Christmas tree! Everything had to be just so, down to every piece of the tinsel icicles on the tree hanging perfectly straight! Mom would always light up when she was around her family! Oh how she loved to take notes! She had notebook, after notebook, after notebook of notes documenting the Christmas gifts she got from her family as well as the gifts she got for everyone else. As far back as we can remember if anyone wanted to know what she got us for Christmas decades ago she could go to her numbered notebooks and tell us, including the price!! She also loved big cats, wolves, and birds. She had several figurines and pictures of each kind to prove it! She had a clock on her wall that would "chirp" a specific bird sound on every hour. She was member of Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park, MN for 40 years and she was a prayer warrior! She prayed so hard that even the most rebellious son asked Jesus into his heart at 33 years old and has been serving the Lord for over 40 years. One by one every one of her 4 kids came to the Lord as well as each one married a wonderful Christian spouse. We will all see her again in Heaven, fulfilling the greatest desire of her heart! She has now joined her daughter (oldest child), youngest son, older sister, parents and others that predeceased her in Heaven! What a great reunion! Her oldest and middle sons along with the rest of the surviving family look forward to seeing them again when it is our time! Mom was such a loving person and had so many friends! As a testimony to this, here is a poem written by a next-door neighbor lady to mom in 1964: Dear Lois, I sometimes sit and wonder, as I look around, of all the people that I've known, how I rate the friend I've found. I could have looked a million years, for a friend as good and true, but I'm sure a genuine hand-picked friend, couldn't half compare with you. You've listened to my heartaches, my victories and the rest, but just chatting over a coffee cup, is when I like you best. The years may come, and they may go, but I hope that you'll agree, when other friendships have been dissolved, there'll still be you and me. Eileen Mom will be missed by a multitude. We love you mom, and you will get your wish! We will all see you in Heaven when it's our time. Thank you for all the prayers! Love, Her Family
