Judy Hemak

Hemak, Judy (Jones) 1945-2009 Preceded in death by parents, Mary and Ruben Falk of Mora, MN. Survived by loving husband, John; son, Jeffrey (Heather) Jones; brother, Doug (Kathy) Falk; sister, Arlayne (John) Hermann; stepchildren, Lisa (Mark) Hammerlund, David (Jennifer) Hemak, Lara Hemak; four grandchildren, Erin & Mitchell Jones, and Max and Sarah Hammerlund. Judy was born in Braham, MN and reared in Mora. She graduated Mora High School in 1963. In 1966 she married Phil Jones and moved to New England where they lived with their son, Jeff, for 5 years. After they returned to the Twin Cities in 1970, Judy became active in the Decathlon Athletic Club. She played racquetball, served on various committees and won the prestigious "Diana Award" for outstanding volunteer services. During the 70's she was also active in Oak Grove Presbyterian Church and chaired the Board of Deacons. In the 80's she transferred to Christ Presbyterian Church where she was active on women's retreat committees, the Mission Committee and volunteered in the church office. Judy's work career was in the field of advertising and she retired in 1998 after 22 years. For 19 of those years she worked for Key Group Advertising/Kraus Anderson Realty Co. as an account executive, event planner and shopping center marketing director. In 1982 Judy battled and survived breast cancer. She was divorced in 1983 and married John Hemak in 1989. Judy loved to play racquetball when she was younger and in more recent years played golf, biked and traveled with John. They enjoyed their blended family and took many trips around the world. She loved to laugh and wants to be remembered laughing, with a joke on her tongue and just a little bit of a "sick" sense of humor. The celebration of her life is at 3:00 PM TODAY at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6901 Normandale Road, Edina, MN 55435 (952-920-8515). This service will be followed by a gathering of friends and family at church. Judy's wish is to make a contribution to "Feed My Starving Children." Washburn-McReavy Eden Prairie Chapel 952-975-0400
