James Dosch

Jim Dosch, an over 60-year resident of Edina, passed away peacefully at his home. Preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Ann; parents, J.J. and Georgiena; brother, Jack; sister, Mary; granddaughter, Patricia; and best friend, Jerry. Jim is survived by his brother, Tom (Phyllis); sisters, Winnie, Georgiena and Lynn; sister-in-law, Marilyn; children, Ann (Paul), Mary (Jim), Patty (Brian); 6 grandchildren, Andy, Krista, Ryan, Kelly, Mary (Matt) and Katie (Brady); and great-grandchild, Maverick James. He is also survived by his favorite sons, Bob, Richie, Greg and Nate. Jim grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1948 (where he met Ann). He had 2 tours of duty in the Navy and returned to work at the Ford Plant in St Paul. His general construction career was at Gunnar I. Johnson and Son, with his father-in-law and brother-in-law. He managed commercial warehouses and office space in Bloomington for over 60 years. He was still climbing ladders to inspect rooftops at age 90. Jim never stopped moving. He was happiest if he was fixing, painting, mowing, snow blowing, cleaning, playing tennis (with his beloved instructor, Warren Swanson, at Northwest Athletic Club), skiing, or organizing (every document was in a 3-ring binder). He cherished his time at the deer cabin, mostly for the pranks that were being bestowed on his buddies in the hunting shack. Jim and Ann thoroughly enjoyed an active social life. Whether they were at the cabins in Knife River or Gull Lake, or their own back yard, you could count on the fridges being stocked with all of the good stuff, great food, and hilarious games. They enjoyed golf and dinner with friends at Bearpath. They were blessed to have dear (younger) friends later in life, including Tom & Phyllis and Butch & Barbara. They kept them young, engaged, and feeling needed. A casual celebration of life for both Ann & Jim will be held at Washburn McReavy Edina (5000 West 50th Street) on May 23rd at 11:30 AM, followed by a light lunch.
