James Axelson

Axelson, James Axel Born on November 24, 1938 in Northfield, MN to Elna (Youngberg) and John Axelson. He died surrounded by his loving family on December 5, 2008 at his home in Eden Prairie. Jim blessed each of us with his genuine interest in others, to whom he gave in countless ways. He had an incredible ability to make us laugh, a steadfast hope in the beauty of tomorrow, an inspirational positive attitude toward life, a deep pride and love for his family and a never-ending faith in God. Jim was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Northfield and graduated from Northfield High School in 1956. He served in the Army, where he was initially deployed as a broadcaster for Armed Forces Radio in Tule, Greenland and later became the MC for the United States Army Air Defense Command Choral Group. Jim attended St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota. He worked for Asleson Company, was a broadcaster for KRSI radio and a media producer for Sports Film and Talents. Jim spent the rest of his career as a corporate representative for several clothing manufacturers. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother Laurence Axelson; and grandson Tyler Anderson. He will be greatly missed by his wife Carol; his three children Karin, Vincent and Stephanie; his sons-in-law Erik and Andrew; his daughter-in-law Gina; his five grandchildren Ryan Anderson, Andrew, Amanda and Carter Sessa, and Nicolas Axelson; his three brothers Tom (Adelaide), Don (Betty), Norman (Arlene) Axelson and sister Janet (Tom) Pritchard; sister-in-law Bobbie Axelson; mother-in-law Maebel Foss-Otteson; brother-in-law Virg Foss; and many loved nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Steven Duane , the kind staff at Park Nicollet Cancer Center, and the wonderful nursing staff at Hospice Care. A service will be held Tuesday, December 9, 11:00 AM, at All Saints Lutheran Church, 15915 Excelsior Blvd., Minnetonka, MN 55345 with a gathering one hour prior to the service.
