Herman Egeberg

Egeberg, Herman passed away at the age of 86 on July 5, 2012. He was born November 22, 1925 to Nils and Anna Egeberg on the family farm about 2 miles from the Canadian border near Souris, ND. He was the last child in a family of eight children, six girls and two boys. Preceding him in death were his parents and six sisters, Berthina Egeberg, Esther Svaren, Ruth Linblade, Irene Egertson, Marie Boe and Norah Kilnes. He is survived by his brother, Ruben (Thelma) of Rock Island, IL and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is also survived by his wife, the love of his life, Charlotte (Forness) Egeberg. They were married for 62 years. He is also survived by his children and grandchildren, William (Joy) and children, Garrett, Danielle; Robert (Julie) and children, Matthew, Nathaniel; Sarah (Steve) Myhro and children, Christopher, Colin, Jenna; and Richard (Karen) and children, Brody, Noah. Herman's grandchildren were a very special blessing as they brought so much joy to his life. In 1943 Herman graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo, ND were he met his future wife, Charlotte. In 1953 he graduated from Augsburg College in Minneapolis. He served during World War II in Germany where he earned two battle stars. Herman was raised in a Christian home and has been active in the Lutheran Church all his life. The last two churches being Ascension Lutheran in St. Louis Park and Calvary Lutheran in Golden Valley. He enjoyed a 34 1/2 year career with Lutheran Brotherhood (now Thrivent Financial) and always appreciated the kindness of his fellow workers. He served on the board of Plymouth Christian Youth Center and New Hope Center. Herman loved gardening: growing vegtables, flowers of all kinds and especially roses. Memorials are preferred to Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo, ND or Calvary Lutheran Church. Funeral service Monday, July 9, 12 noon with visitation 1 hour prior to service at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7520 Golden Valley Rd, Golden Valley.
