Gordon Francis Ziesmer, Sr.

Gordon (Gordy) Ziesmer Sr. passed away on 10/24/2022 at the age of 82 years. He was born to Harold and Irene Ziesmer on February 22, 1940. He grew up on a farm in Olivia, MN and graduated from Olivia High School. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Air Force and served his country for 29 years. He was stationed in many foreign countries and many states in the USA. He held many positions to include: Recruiter/Senior Recruiter, Personnel Tech/Superintendent, Communications Specialist, and Management Engineering Tech. His last two assignments were at Air Force HQ, McClellan AFB and Air Force Personnel Kelly AFB, San Antonio, Texas. He received many awards and accommodations through out his career. When Gordy retired from the Air Force, he and wife Arlene moved back to Minnesota to be near family. They moved to Underwood, MN where he worked 10 years for Offutt Farms in Perham, MN year-round as an Agronomist Technician, truck driver and tractor operator during spring planting and fall harvest. They moved to St. Francis, MN where he became a bus driver for Saint Francis schools for about 10 years before fully retiring. Later they moved to an assisted living community in Coon Rapids, MN until his passing. Gordy loved spending time with his whole family. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, music, dancing and gardening. He taught his kids and grandkids how to play cribbage and was ruthless. He also like to play other games, especially card games with friends/family and even on the computer. He is survived by Arlene, his wife of 61 years and daughters Roxanne (Dan) Peters, Maxine (Keith) Hogan, and son Gordon Jr./Bud (Donna) Ziesmer. His 8 grandchildren; Kelly (Danny) Stevenson, Ben (Kelley) Peters, Ashley (Alex) Anderson, Danielle (Brandon) Sobczak, Garin (Sara) Hogan, Sierra (Nick) Markl, Brittany Ziesmer and Matthew Ziesmer. As well as 10 great-grandchildren. Also survived by 4 brothers and spouses; Ken & Ellie Ziesmer, Harold (Red) Ziesmer Jr, Curt & Deb Ziesmer, Richard Ziesmer, and sister Mary Kay Heck. Gordy was proceeded in death by his parents Harold and Irene Ziesmer, and sister Patricia & Don Swanson, and sister-in-law Katie Ziesmer. Mass of Christian B
