Georgia Dovolis

Dovolis, Georgia J. age 84, of Edina, MN and Naples, FL, fell asleep in the Lord on May 20, 2006. Preceded in death by husband, James. Survived by loving and devoted children, John (Dianne), Gregg (Barbara) and Dean (Anna) Dovolis, all of Edina MN; grandchildren, James, Nicholas, Gregory, Andrew, Anne, Christina, Jamie and Elizabeth; brother, James (Inga) Boosalis of Memphis, TN; and sister, Mary Condes of Whiting, IN; sister-in-law, Mrs. Etta Kosmas; including many nieces and nephews. She was a loving, joyful mother who delighted in her children and grandchildren. Georgia was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church in Minneapolis and one of the founding members of St. Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church in Naples. She was a past president of the Philoptochos Society, a philanthropic arm of the church, as well as the Niata Society. Georgia was an active member of both St. Mary's and St. Katherine's. She volunteered her time as liaison in Greek translation between the doctor's at the University of Minnesota and foreign heart patients coming to the United States for heart surgery. This was a forerunner to the Children's Heart Link Network. Her wide variety of interests included Courage Center volunteer, docent at the Art Institute of Minneapolis, as well as chairing her sons Edina High School graduation parties. She was a member of the Interlachen Country Club and The Club at Pelican Bay, Naples. She enjoyed many years of golfing A special thanks to Georgia's loving and compassionate caregivers Ereyna Haugen, Janet Jones, and Leah Swanson. Georgia will be remembered and held dear in the hearts of her family and friends. Funeral Service 11 AM Thursday, May 25th at St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church, 35th and Irving Ave. S., Mpls. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be AT THE CHURCH from 4-7 PM Wednesday May 24th concluding with Trisagion Prayer Service at 7 PM.
