Evelyn Catherine Lever

Lever, Evelyn Catherine (nee Walsh) Age 97 Passed away on 22 January 2025. She is survived by her daughters Sharon Lethert and Susan Sarraillon and son Mark (Kathy) Nelson, grandchildren Kyle Nelson (Heather), Stephanie Nelson and Ali Nelson, great grandchildren Kenlie Nelson, Ava Nelson and Parker Nelson. She was preceded in death by her son Steve Nelson, husband Richard Lever, and son-in-laws Jim Lethert and Frank Sarraillon. She was also preceded in death by her parents Julia Longman Walsh and Francis Walsh and all of her 12 siblings and their spouses Joe (Erma), Mary (Irv) Helgeson, Jim (Ann), Leo (Lou), Irene (Art) Diederich, Ed (Vi), Larry (Gert), Sister Dorothy CSJ, Sister Julitta CSJ, Bill (Pat), Gert (Jim) Rutledge and Tom (Rose) Walsh. Evie is also survived by her many precious nieces and nephews. She was a native of Murdock, Minnesota. She lived in Minneapolis, MN for all of her adult life and began working as a waitress and hostess at the Pool and Yacht Club on the Mississippi River in Lilydale, MN in 1963, a job she truly loved. She worked at the club for over 50 years where she made lifelong friends. The club celebrated her 50 year anniversary with a large party. Many of the managers she worked for during her tenure were in attendance. One of whom said "Do you know why we are all here? We are afraid that Evie has stories about us that we don't want told!" Also in attendance were many members, their children and their grandchildren all of whom she thought of as family. She will be missed by all who knew her. She was forever an Irish girl through and through, a country she visited and loved and "the wearing of the green" was a special time for her each year. She was a devout catholic and a lifelong member of St. Helena's Church in Minneapolis. She enjoyed fishing both in summer and winter and was fiercely competitive. She was an avid flower gardener and a great cook. No one could make a better banana bread! She was particularly fond of her neighbor Tara who held a special place in her heart as well as Arthur and church friend Deno who were a great help to her as she got older in her Minneapolis home. Funeral will be held February 6th, 2025 at St. Helena Catholic Church, 3204 E 43rd Street, Minneapolis, MN with reviewal at 10:00, service at 11:00 and reception after the service. Burial will take place at Lakewood Cemetery following the luncheon.
