Duane Meinrad Busch

Our beloved husband, father, brother and "Papa" Duane M. Busch, 82, of Apple Valley, passed away on April 17 after a short but courageous battle with pneumonia. "Dude" was born in Shakopee, Minnesota on January 16, 1943 to the late Urban and Luverne (Boegeman) Busch. He grew up in Jordan and was the second oldest of four children: Robert (Karron) Busch, Mary (Cliff) Klehr and Anne Wilwerding. Dude attended Nazareth Hall seminary in St. Paul his freshman and sophomore years of high school before returning to Jordan High where he graduated in 1961. His college years took him to the University of St. Thomas before continuing his studies at Bemidji State. He graduated with a degree in accounting in 1965. He met the love of his life, Janet Ringbloom, while both worked at Dahlberg Electronics. They married on September 6, 1969 at Our Lady of Grace Church in Edina and just last year celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Dude and Jan had three loving children; Melissa (Jeremy) Reiner, Sara (Chip) Knilans and Chris Busch. But the greatest joys of his life were his grandchildren; Adyn, Emma, Noah, Bryn, and his "bonus" granddaughters Kayla and Emma (Amy Ewald). Papa enjoyed attending countless swim meets, soccer games, dance recitals and music concerts and was so proud of his family. Dude spent most of his professional career with Control Data before his retirement in 2000. He found a second career as a handyman at New Spaces home remodeling in Burnsville where he worked for the past 23 years, up until his illness. Dude had many hobbies over the years including golf, racquetball, playing cards and gardening. His beloved rose garden will continue to bloom and live on in his memory. He and Jan were also blessed to be able to travel on favorite trips to Naples, FL, Puerto Vallarta, Banff, Key West, Alaska, and most recently, San Diego just last month. But his greatest love next to "Nana" was their beloved GanaGana cabin in Nestor Falls, Ontario. Many wonderful summers were spent there with family and friends where he loved to fish and cook up his famous walleye fish fries by the outdoor fireplace. Dude was a kind, loyal and loving man and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our family would like to thank all of you for your prayers, support, and special memories that have helped us through this difficult time. The family would also like to thank the staff and wonderful nurses at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville for the care and compassion they showed Duane in his final days. Funeral services will be held at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Eden Prairie on Thursday May 15, visitation 9AM, Mass 11AM. Private interment.
