Daniel Holman

Holman, Daniel George Age 60 Of Eden Prairie Passed away with grace and dignity within the arms of his beloved wife and surrounded by family on June 1, 2006, after a short, courageous battle with Hodgkin's lymphoma. Dan was a gift to all of us with his spontaneous wit, intelligence and strong opinions about what was right and wrong with the world. He loved world travel, fishing, hunting, scuba diving, card playing with family, golf and his constant companions, golden retrievers Duke and Abby...but mostly he loved his wonderful family and tremendous network of friends throughout the world who surrounded him on his final journey. He was a scientist and medical industry executive his entire life and recently retired as President and CEO of Uroplasty, Inc. His work in this industry resulted in numerous medical device contributions that have helped improve the lives of people worldwide. He was well regarded for his empathetic style of management and his ability to nurture employee potential. Dan will be remembered for his leadership, his sincerity, his sense of humor, and his passion for helping others. With all of his endeavors, he was a breath of fresh air and brought decency to every situation. He always told us he lived a wonderful, adventurous, full life; if he could have, his last words would have been, "I'm so sorry I'm leaving all of you too soon." Dan was born December 1, 1945, to the late Verlyn (Red) and Margaret (Clusiau) Holman in Grand Rapids, MN. He is survived by his best friend, soul mate, and wife, Susan (Hartjes); his cherished 4 children and 8 grandchildren; daughters, Holly (Eugene) Jenkins and their children Jeremiah, Corbin & Noah; Deedee (Spencer) Gibbs and their children, Isaac, Hannah & Emma; Danelle (Dave) Dornan and their children Aidan and Lucas; and son, Jeff Doherty; his brother, Dick (Pat) Holman; his sister, Nancy (Fred) Barry; father-in-law, Marvin Hartjes; and sister and brothers-in-law, Sharyl (Rick) Rodina, Steve (Connie) Hartjes & Scott (BillieJo) Hartjes; and many nieces and nephews. Dan will be sorely missed by so very many who he always had in his giving heart. The family gives special thanks to Burton Schwartz, MD, whose humane care and empathy brought comfort to Dan's difficult journey, to the exceptional ICU physicians and nurses at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, and to all of those worldwide who kept Dan and his family in their thoughts and prayers. Mass of Christian Burial 11AM Monday, June 5 at Pax Christi Catholic Community, 12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie, with visitation Sunday (TODAY) 2-5PM at church, and 1 hour before Mass on Monday.
