Craig Lyle Hochsprung

Craig Hochsprung, 62, embarked on his journey to heaven on the morning of October 22, 2019. Craig left this earth surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with kidney disease. Family was very important to Craig, and one of his life's greatest accomplishments was his daughter Janet, whom he adored. Over the years, Craig enjoyed time with Janet and her husband Chad while boating, fishing, waterskiing, and going on adventures together. He was very close with his family, and spent his final months with his mother JoAnn, who comforted and cared for him in a way that only a Mom can. The oldest of three children, he grew up in Spring Lake Park, spent his early adulthood driving a semi truck, and then worked at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport as a jet plane fueler. Passionate about music, he loved concerts, had an extensive album collection, and went to as many musical events as he could. He shared his love of music with all those around him, and gatherings with Craig were filled with everything from Elvis to Sinatra. Craig loved traveling and seeing new places. Over the years, his adventures took him on trains, planes, and automobiles to Florida, Alaska, Wisconsin Dells, and an array of destinations around the country. As his kidney disease progressed and his ability to travel decreased, he would tell those around him to "Go as much as you can, while you can." During his life, Craig went as much as he could, while he could. On Tuesday, October 22, Craig bravely departed on his final trip, where he was greeted in heaven by his loved ones that left before him, including his father Lyle. His family will miss him deeply, but are comforted knowing he is free of pain and at peace in the loving arms of God. Craig is survived by his daughter Janet and her husband Chad, loving mother JoAnn, sister Cheryl and her husband Charles, sister Cathy and her husband Donald, niece Rachael and her fiancé B.J., nephew Ryan and his wife Bobbie and family, and nephew Matthew and his wife Taylor. He is preceded in death by his father, Lyle, his maternal grandparents Arthur and Lillian, and his paternal grandparents Louis and Mary. Visitation will be Thursday, October 24 from 4-8 PM at Holcomb-Henry-Boom-Purcell Funeral Home, located at 515 Hwy 96 W at Mackubin, Shoreview, Minnesota. Funeral Service will be on Friday, October 25 at 11 AM, with a one-hour visitation prior to the service at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, located at 900 Stillwater Road #2267, Mahtomedi, Minnesota. Funeral will be followed by a reception with coffee and cookies, and a private burial service in Glencoe, Minnesota.
