Benjamin Ryan Johnson

Benjamin passed away in his home unexpectedly on July 23rd, 2024. As we grieve his loss, we are reminded of the remarkable person he was. Born and raised in Hopkins, Benjamin showcased his genius and ambition from the very beginning, dreaming of owning a computer while the rest of us were dreaming of snacks. Little did we know that his life would revolve around technology, and his passion for computers and games would only grow with time. Benjamin enjoyed a successful career in IT, taking great pride in his ability to fix almost anything. He had a wide range of interests, from music to watches, and always found joy in tinkering with the latest gadgets that arrived through his daily Amazon packages. Benjamin's love for motorcycles, bikes, and legos was evident, and he recently fulfilled a lifelong dream by acquiring his beloved 1969 Candy Apple Red Ford Mustang Mach 1, appropriately named "Rouge." Stepping into Benjamin's house was like entering a portal to a galaxy far, far away, as his lifelong devotion to the Star Wars saga was evident in almost every corner. His dialogue was peppered with obscure movie quotes that only the most dedicated fans could grasp. And let's not forget his love for classic video games, which inspired him to wear his passion on his sleeve-or rather, his skin-through his award-winning tattoos. Benjamin will be deeply missed by his mother, Rhonda; father, Brad; sister, Emily (Matt); two nieces, Liza and Remi; two cats, Anakin and Leia; and the countless friendships that he considered family. We hope Benjamin has found peace and is now somewhere where the air is cool, the jam sessions never end, the Wi-Fi is fast, and an abundance of candy awaits. We look forward to hearing your stories of Benjamin. Visitation will be on Friday, August 2nd, 2-3PM followed by a Memorial Service from 3-4PM at Washburn-McReavy Hopkins Chapel, 1400 Mainstreet in Hopkins, MN. A private ceremony will take place for the burial of the ashes. Please feel free to dress how you please as Benjamin often showed up in a costume to many events. In lieu of flowers, Benjamin would appreciate a donation to Locks of Love, Hazelden Betty Ford, or purchase a fun pair of socks that remind you of him with every step.
