This book not only chronicles the history of our funeral home but also offers a heartfelt tribute to the families we have served and the community we have been part of for over a century and a half. Whether you are a long-time member of our community or new to our services, this book provides a unique insight into the values and traditions that continue to guide us.
Established by William P. Washburn with partner William Glessner as a Minneapolis furniture and undertaking company (a common combination at the time), Washburn sold the furniture portion and renamed it Washburn Undertaking Company in 1917. He invited nephew Donald R. McReavy to join the business, and their extended families continue to guide this community enterprise.
Over the years Washburn-McReavy has expanded to include 16 funeral chapels and 4 cemeteries in the Minneapolis metropolitan area. These include the Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, one of Minnesota’s premier funeral chapels.
The fifth-generation family business prides itself on serving families during difficult times, including coordinating all details pertaining to funeral, cremation and cemetery arrangements. Washburn-McReavy also offers advance planning to families to ensure all wishes are met in a dignified manner.
In its 167th year, this family business continues to build its reputation of quality and value and lives by the philosophy 'Our Family Serving Your Family.'
